Issues of cooperation in artificial intelligence and ICT workforce development were discussed with the Huawei Vice President

A meeting was held at the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan between Deputy Minister of Education of Turkmenistan, Azat Ataev, and Mr. Xu Hai, Vice President of Huawei for Central Asia and the region. During the meeting, the parties held a comprehensive discussion on the current state and перспективы bilateral cooperation in digital education, workforce development for the digital economy, strengthening competencies in artificial intelligence, and the integration of advanced educational technologies.

The parties reaffirmed the relevance of previously identified areas of cooperation, including joint AI initiatives, the development of educational infrastructure, and the introduction of modern technological solutions into the higher education system.

Particular attention was given to the Huawei ICT Academy ecosystem, which represents a comprehensive talent development model integrating educational programs, digital platforms, laboratory solutions, and internationally recognized certification pathways. It was noted that the system includes multi-level certification (HCIA, HCIP, HCIE) and covers a wide range of domains—from networking and cloud technologies to artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and data analytics.

As a result of the discussions, preliminary agreements were reached in the following areas:

Exploring the provision of pilot vouchers for students to undertake training and obtain internationally recognized Huawei certifications;

Developing and reviewing a draft Memorandum of Understanding, including the potential establishment of a Huawei ICT Academy in Turkmenistan;

Localization of AI-related educational content for students and academic staff;

Joint development of mechanisms to align educational programs with labor market needs;

Providing access for Turkmen universities to Huawei ICT Academy courses and advanced teaching and methodological resources.

The importance of participation of Turkmen students in Huawei’s global initiatives, including the ICT Competition, was also highlighted, where the national team has already demonstrated strong performance. The possibility of expanding the participation of faculty members in international competitions and academic programs was also discussed.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue systematic work across the identified areas and to move toward the practical implementation of joint initiatives.
